Severe winter time material handling problems can be solved through the use of Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agent and Liquid Ice Melt. Products that have been effectively freeze conditioned are: wood chips, coal, coke, dolomite and iron ore pellets.

Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt functions by changing the crystalline structure of ice formed when the products surface moisture freezes. Modifying the crystalline structure lowers the physical strength of the ice that binds the frozen material together. Because Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agent and Liquid Ice Melt does not prevent the moisture from freezing,; the treatment rates are affected by the amount of surface moisture present rather than upon the anticipated severity of the weather.

Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt is sprayed directly onto conveyor belts to prevent build-up of ice and slippage of materials being moved. The chemical is usually sprayed without dilution. The treatment rate varies with the corresponding abrasive characteristics of the conveyed material. Treatment rates of one litre per 100 sp. Ft. of belt/per 8 hour shift have been successfully used for wood chips in the Prince George area. The treatment rate will vary, depending on different conditions.

Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt is an organic fluid that is free of sulphur, chlorides and heavy metals. The quality of the material being conveyed should not be affected by the chemical spray. Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt was initially designed for use with wood chips and pulp, and will not harm either chemically. The material has been found to do no apparent damage to conveyor belts and is non-corrosive to steel and other common metals. Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt is a high performance, potassium acetate-based, clear liquid deicer that is effective to temperature below -15 degrees F. It replaces common salts like calcium and magnesium chloride. Envirosafe Freeze Conditioning Agents and Liquid Melt is intended for use as a prewetting agent to improve the performance of solid deicers like road salt and urea, or on sand. It may also be applied "as is" when speed is critical.
